OLD HOSPITAL

This is an old hospital here in Coos Bay. Built in the 30's .
I fell in love with this building the first time I saw it. I didn't know at first that it was a hospital so I ask around and sure enough it was the old Coos Bay Hospital.
They told me in had been condemed. I called a realtor friend and ask him about it and he said that it was for sale.
He said it had a bid on it and the person that bid on it backed out of the deal.

I am totally facinated by it and I ask him if it comes on the market again if he would take me through it.
He said he would be glad to do that.

The price for this old hospital is $500,000.00
If I had the money I would buy it. There are all sorts of things a person could do with this beautiful old building. This is the building I was referring to in the mini meme I did awhile back.

If I had a billion dollars..
I would open it up for the ole and under privileged .

I would make one floor a free clinic.

I wonder so many things about it.
How many babies were delivered here and who were the doctors and nurses that worked here.
Where is the delivery room?

How many people died here and who were they.
Where is the Morgue?

How many lives were saved by the doctors that worked here.
How many were not able to be saved.
Where is the ER?

How many times did an ambulance pull up here.
How many patient rooms does it have?
Where is the newborn nursery?

Thinking back on all of these things it reminds me of when my Father passed away when I was a little girl.
Later in life I worked in the same hospital that he died in back in 1955.
I saw the room he died in and it was so small to me. It reminded me of a closet.
I saw the xray department where I found his xrays and report on them. Chronic Heart Failure was the diagnosis.

So this is a very old facinating building and I love it!

Do you have a building that facinates you?

TINY RED SHOES

I was so inspired by my friend Nancy at Fete et fleur after seeing the tiny shoes she has been posting about and also my friend Cookie Sunshine over at The Cookie Sheet with her Mary Jane shoes that I decided to try to make a pair of my own.

They are made of clay and have paper insoles. They are 1 3/4" long . They look a bit tattered due to my inexperience but I will keep practicing. I glued them together and put a magnet on the back.

In this picture they are sitting in a lovely gift box with hand painted lid by a new friend, Suzan Landia. She also makes beautiful jewlery. You can find her at www.SuzanLandia.etsy.com This was fun to do.

They will be in my Etsy Shop tomorrow.

A BRAND NEW WEEK

My new friend Nancy over at More Than Enough has tagged me with the following mini-meme.

  • Where was I 10 years ago: In Corona, CA working as an Interior Designer.

  • Snack Food I like: Popcorn, Chocolate. Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip Cookies.

  • If I were a billionaire I would: Buy homes for all of my children and grandchildren, donate to my favorite charity. There is a very old empty hospital here in Coos Bay and it just fascinates me. I would purchase that building and turn it into a health clinic and hire doctors and nurses that could care for the elderly and homeless and under privileged.

  • Places I have Lived: Idaho, Colorado, South Dakota,Nevada, California, Oregon

Now I’m tagging you:

MORE COLLAGE CARDS

I have been so inspired by so many people lately that my head is spinning.

I am a member of ZNE and recently joined the ATC Swappers Group. This is the my first ATC for the swap.

I also thought of a way to use the wonderful Toile Fabric I received from Susan at Black Berry Creek . This is a 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" Note Card. I put the fabric on the front and then did a collage with it and trimmed it with the cutest butterfly ric rac. I am pretty proud of the way it turned out.

I was also inspired by an image of my friend Jann over at A Vintage Heart's Great Grandmother, Rose. Jann gave her permission to take the image if we so desired and create with it and I did. It is such a cute image and I plan to use it often. In fact I have used it twice here on two different cards. The first one I used transparencies and the second one I used stamps from Inka Stamps and a line from an old Laura Ingles Little House on the Prairie Book. I know you are all gasping...the book is trashed, it is stained and torn and so I will put some of it to good use. I have a very nice copy of the book whick will stay in one piece.

Then I found this really bright colored fabric looking Mat Stack and an image from Victorian Trading Co and a little decor with a gold pen.

These and more will be listed in my Etsy Shop.

I am working on some clay pieces that I am really excited about also. I will probably be finished with them next week. My husband and I are almost complete with the new porch, sidewalk and gutters. We are doing the landscaping around the new porch and the front of the house. Should be finished by Sunday at which time I will post pictures.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY D'ANGELO !!

This is my middle son, D'Angelo's birthday!

He is a wonderful son, Father to my grandson and husband to my daughter in law Lori.
He is also an accomplished drummer. He was in the drum corp right after high school and has a natural talent. Along with his daily employment as the Manager of an electrical company in Anaheim, CA has been the drummer for his band called "New Roll Soul" for a number of years now.

A few years ago he had that horrible flesh eating disease on the top of his foot developing from a bug bite. He recovered from the initial devastation of that but a few years later it came back.

This disease causes loss of muscle and he recently has experienced problems with the control of his foot. He is having problems with drumming because of this and a drummer needs both feet to be able to play correctly. He is a perfectionist when it comes to drumming which is why he is so good. We are hopeful that physical therapy will help but with the loss of muscle it is going to be hard. Training his other foot has been suggested also.

Drumming is a big part of his life and so I am asking for a prayer chain to pray that the Lord will wrap his loving arms around D'Angelo and guide him in what he needs to do to correct this problem .

My husband and I are so very proud of what he has made of his life through all the hard knocks and want to wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SON!

LOVE YOU
MOM & ALAN
