PUPPY FALLS OUT OF VEHICLE ON THE HYWAY

Have you ever been driving down the hyway and see a dog fall out of the back of a truck?
Today my husband was a witness to this and a hero. He was driving back from fishing on hyway 101 and he was a dog 2 cars in front of him fall out of the back of a truck and then get hit by a car. The dog was in the center of the hyway and two cars pulled over including my husband. No one wanted to go out into

the hyway and get the dog so my husband did. He picked up the dog and put him in the front seat of his dually and drove him to the Harbor Lights animal hospital. He called me and told me to meet him there. What? HE said meet me at Harbor Lights. I said what? He said a dog got hit by a car and I need you to meet me at Harbor lights. Okay, I didn't understand but I got in the car and drove to the hospital.

As I walked up to the truck I could see that my husband was standing outside the truck with the door open. As I got closer there he was..the most beautiful, sweet puppy. He was red in color with only a bit of white on his chest, Even his nose is red. The same color as our two dogs Sampson and Petey. He was looking at me so calmly and as I slowly put my head in the truck and started talking softly to this dog, he licked me.

I could see he had several bleeding places on his legs and his face. He didn't cry out when my husband picked him up either. The dog then got up and walked closer to me and I could see he had a very bad twisted leg.

My husband said he talked to the vet and she said that she couldn't do anything unless it was life threatening or we wanted to claim responsibility for the cost. If it was life threatening they would put him down.

The nurse came out and looked at him and said she thought he would be okay and wanted to know if we wanted to call animal control to pick him up of leave the dog and they would call. Well that is when I broke down.

Here is this dog probably not more than a year old. Scared, alone and probably wondering what the heck is going on. He was probably in shock too. I told my husband that I was going to get in the car and drive away because I could not make that call. We have two dogs. They are mellow and very routine and well behaved. They are expensive to keep but I love them.

The nurse took the dog inside and called Animal Control. She told them if the dogs owners did not try to find him or if no one adopts him to call us before they put him down. We will take him and find a home for him. A puppy as sweet as this one does not deserve to die because his stupid owners didn't have him chained in the back of a truck or get him a license or a dog tag or something!

I can't get his sweet face with those big eyes looking at me as if to say, I am scared and my leg hurts out of my mind. I think I am in love and we will make sure he is okay. We will go see if he is in the shelter tomorrow and make sure they know we want him if no one else does. I am pretty sure it might upset things around here for awhile but if I can help save this puppy I will.

If the owner does show up he will be sited for this as he should be.
The vet called about an hour after we left the hospital and said she checked him out and cleaned up his wounds and that they are pretty much superficial but she does have concerns about his right hip. She also said she notified the state and city police an the sheriff just in case the owners call them.
By the way...we named him "Lucky"

PLEASE PEOPLE...DON'T PUT YOUR DOG IN THE BACK OF A VEHICLE WITH OUT LEASHING HIM IN !!!!

Update this evening.........Alan went to see Lucky and he is doing pretty good. He wagged his tail when Alan patted him. The owners did contact the shelter and can't afford gas to come see him let alone pay the shelter fees to get him out. The shelter is setting up a vet to check him out and see if his leg is okay. His real name is YoYo. We will be going to see him again tomorrow  and hopefully meet with the owners. I will finish the story later but for now, YoYo is safe and being cared for and one way or another he will be out of the shelter soon.
I will take pictures to share with you all tomorrow.

WILD LIFE

My latest digital collage.
I call in wild life.

OUR BOYS ARE 7 YEARS OLD

It  hardly seems possible that our dogs are 7 years old. To me, they still seem like puppies even though they both weigh 120 lbs. They are my babies. They have filled the void of being so far away from my children and family.

Daddy bought them new beds for their birthday next month and I think they like them.
Kind of makes me want to climb on those beds with them!

FINGER STEAKS

My neighbor is known as my Produce Man because he brings us all kinds of organic goodies from his garden.
Today he brought two kinds of cucumbers. The yellow ones are lemon cucumbers and are sweeter.
Corn on on the cob and beautiful home grown tomatoes. Oh and he also raises chickens so he keeps me stocked up on organic eggs.

Finger Steaks? Yes, they are the most delicious dish ever! I was born and raised in Idaho and I miss these things so I went online and found a reciepe. Why did I wait so long? If you live in Idaho or have visited Idaho then you know what I am talking about. Little 1/2 x 1/4 pieces of sirloin steak marinated in butter milk and seasoning over night.
Then you dredge them in flour, put them on a cookie sheet and freeze them for 2 hours or overnight is okay too.
Take them out of the freezer and immediately put them in hot canola oil 380 degrees
Cook until they are golden brown, take them out and put them on a paper towel and serve with ranch dressing or BBQ sauce. You will be hooked...I promise !
Here they are! They went very well with the fresh veggies and cottage cheese.

Original Recipe Yield 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons grill seasoning, such as McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless beef sirloin steak, cut into 2 1/2 x 1/4 inch strips
  •
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 cups canola oil for deep frying

Directions

  1. Beat together the egg, buttermilk, grill seasoning, and 1/2 cup of flour in a large bowl until smooth. Add the beef, and toss until well coated. Cover with plastic wrap, and place into the refrigerator to marinate at least 2 hours.
  2. Sift 2 1/2 cups flour with the garlic powder, salt, and pepper into a large bowl. Remove steak strips from buttermilk batter and allow excess to drip off. Dredge each piece with seasoned flour and place onto a baking sheet. Place in the freezer and freeze until firm, 1 hour to overnight.
  3. Heat oil to 370 degrees F (185 degrees C) in a deep fryer or cast iron skillet.
  4. Drop a few frozen steak pieces into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on the outside, about 5 minutes. Do not overcrowd the frying oil, and do not allow the steak strips to thaw before they are fried. Once golden brown, remove to drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

PITBULLS, THE MISUNDERSTOOD BREED

Pitbulls are lovable dogs, but there are also those who don’t like and don’t accept this breed. In today’s society, this breed is one of the most misunderstood breeds of dogs. In media, pitbulls are portrayed as mean, scary, killers involved in attacks and incidents. Many pitbull owners are criticized because of owning this breed. People are informed by media, and media is disriminating this breed. When other breeds get involved in attacks, we can read titles such as ”a dog killed a women”. Many other dogs, are more likely to bite or attack than pitbulls.

Chihuahuas have attacked more people than pitbulls. We don’t see Chihuahuas as mean, and scary baby killers because they are tiny and cute but in fact they can be aggressive and snap off easily. Pitbulls are muscular, strong and powerful dogs. They shouldn’t be judged by individual dogs behavior. Breeders and owners are to be blamed. If any dog is trained properly, there is little chance that it will attack or bite. Many pitbull owners will tell you, that pitbulls are perfect family dogs. They give uncoditional love and are great with kids.

Pitbulls are very loyal so that’s why they make excellent guard dogs. Their endless energy will always keep it’s owner running and playing around. This breed will do anything and everything to please it’s owner. Pitbulls are highly demanded dogs because they are perfectly built and have a muscular and powerful appearance. They appear tough and strong, but inside they are sensitive and affectionate dogs. Too bad, some of these dogs end up owned by bad owners.

There are so many pitbulls that have been abused and used for dog fighting or bred to produce more fighting pitbulls and they really don't want to fight. They want to love and be loved. After they have been torn to threads and left with scars on their bodies and in their minds, they are usually left to die.Usually are damaged for life and have to be put down because of the uncaring dog fighting rings.

I am an avid fan of the TV programs, Pitbulls and Parolees as well as Pit Boss and Dog Town . If I was a multi-millionaire I would open the largest rescue center in the world.

I will be creating some altered tins with a pitbull theme in my Etsy Shop soon. 10% of the proceeds of my sales will go to the pitbull rescue centers.

What is your opinion of the Pitbull breed ?

A CUSTOM ORDER FOR BLINGY BIRD

I had a custom order in my shop this week for on of my Etsy Business Packages
It includes a custom banner, business cards, stickers, an avatar and a matching tin.

This is the final product
The customer was very happy with her order and I was pleased she chose my product.

This is the business cards and the box.
I decided to bling the box up a bit for her since the name of her Etsy Shop is Blingy Bird.
She creates Tiara's and her work is beautiful.

This is the box with the 2x2 stickers with the words Thank You on them
She can use them to put on her customers packages.
Of course I added some of my Moo Cards(smaller business cards)  for her to give others that may need a custom banner.

If you need a Tiara or know someone that does, visit her shop at
