HELTER SKELTER CHALLENGE

This piece was inspired and created from the Charles Manson Murders
I read the book Helter Skelter and saw the movie. It was the most horrible crime of that era. I was intrigued by this story and the way the attorney handled it in court. To this day I cringe at the name Charles Manson. He is an insane murder.

JUST IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN

Halloween is a holiday I have never been fond of. I hate the colors of Halloween and the witches, monsters and  blood and gore that come with it. The children have fun dressing up in there costumes and with their sacks off they go to trick or treat. Seeing all the cute LITTLE ones is the only good thing about Halloween in my opinion.

I once went to a Halloween party and dressed up as the bride of Frankenstein. Of course my husband was Frankenstein. We actually had a wedding ceremony and that was fun.

Here is my contribution to this Halloween 2014.

My biggest fear during Halloween are spiders. Did you notice that October brings spiders out. I see the webs all over my apple tree and plants on the deck. The early morning fog leaves just enough moisture to make these webs more visable. Although I appreciate the work the spider did to make such an intricate piece of work, I hate them !
What is your greatest fear?

SKUNKS !!!!

Let me start by saying that in the nine years my two dogs have been alive, they have only had maybe four baths. They just don't smell and they are house dogs but since it has been kind of hot this summer here in Coos Bay, I decided to treat them to a bath and nail trim at the groomers on Wednesday morning. Later that same night my two dogs encountered a skunk in our yard near the house. Very dangerous to be near our house at night with my two boys. They caught the skunk and killed it. The smell was horrible and being so late at night I was panicked about what to do. My husband suggested tomato juice but I didn't have any!  I had no idea what to do but to look online for a remedy. I tried everything  that I had on hand to get rid of that horrible pungent smell but it lingered through the night and into the morning.

The internet told me to mix baking soda, peroxide and dawn dish soap and bathe them. Uh, excuse me? My dogs weigh 116 and 128 and they are not used to taking a bath. I got Petey to get in the tub but Sampson was not having anything to do with it. I poured the mixture on Petey and after putting on my rubber gloves, rubbed it through his hair as best as I could an then rinsed him off. Sprayed Sampson as best I could and went to bed.

I woke up early and went to the grange to pick up some Natures Miracle and mixed it up and sprayed on the dogs as directed and you are to let then dry before you do anything else. This was done three times and then I called the groomer and she told me to use vinegar and water so I did and all that did was make it smell worse. I tried lemon juice and that seemed to help a little but then I realized that the smell was also on their collars so I removed the collars and washed them four times in soda, peroxide and dawn and finally the smell came out of the collars.

Later in the afternoon I had had enough of that smell and took the dogs out in the back yard (luckily it was a very warm day) and I poured the Natures Miracle mixture  full strength on them and rinsed it off with the water from the garden hose. Once they dried they finally started to smell a bit better.

Next day I sprayed them with the vinegar again and took them to the vet for their booster rabies vaccine. She said she had smelled worse but when she walked in to the exam room she laid these two signs on the exam table.

You see when they caught the skunk they not only killed it but they had a tug of war pulling the poor thing apart and I was sure Petey got some of the skunk oil in his mouth because his breath was smelling so strong of skunk! I called her early that morning to see what I could safely use in his mouth and explained what had happened. She told me to use baking soda and brush his teeth.

Today, 6 days later, they still have a faint smell and probably will for awhile.
By the way, the internet says that tomato juice only works temporarily but when the fur dries the smell comes back.

All I have to say is that cute little black and white creature probably has the best defense mechanism ever . To bad you have to experience it to realize it and I certainly hope Sampson and Petey learned a lesson but if not, mama did. I will never again let my dogs out alone to potty at night. I will walk them out on a leash.

HARD TO BELIEVE!

I remember watching my Mother wash clothes in a wringer washer like this

Then she got me one when I married at the age of 15 and I washed my first Son's diapers in a tub  like the one seen here on the floor. I rubbed blisters on my knuckles using a washboard until I got my brand new electric wringer washer!

I can't believe how time flies and how technology has progressed
Now I have a state of the art front loader and dryer to match both with digital settings.

Looking back at photos like this make me feel old but blessed.
Did you have a washer like this too?

MY NEW ONLINE GALLERY

Not to many years ago I didn't know beans about Digital Art or Photoshop. I loved the look and wanted to learn so I had a geek friend install the latest version of Photoshop and taught myself how to create digitally. I had many friends online that helped me and one friend that gave me one hands on lesson on how to use the opacity feature and I was hooked!

I have been creating since 2008 now and I am still learning. I love the new grunge style and of course my favorites are Steampunk and Victorian.

I take Fine Art Grunge classes online through Sebastian Michales. His classes are excellent and you can do them anytime you want. They are full of tutorial videos and textures, backgrounds, vectors and brushes. If you are interested just ask me.

Last week I created my own online Gallery. It has the same name as the one I had here on Blogger but this one is up to date and I have learned much about copyright so all my work is done with copyright free images.

The name of my Gallery is Patricia Creations and you can visit it by clicking rhis link

I hope you Enjoy !

FIVE YEARS SINCE HIS DEATH

An American singer-songwriter, actor, dancer, businessman, and philanthropist.
Called the King of Pop  has been gone from us 5 years today.
I personally loved this guy, his music, his energy, his charitable heart, his determination to have the childhood that was taken from him by his abusive Father.
His fame was and still is astronomical all over the world.
Though some do not like him, I loved him and his music.

To learn more about Michael Jackson, go to Wikipedia
This is my contribution to one of my favorite Legends

DO MEMORIES POP INTO YOUR HEAD FOR NO REASON?

Why all of a sudden did memories of the street I lived on when I was a teen come to mind?
Out of the blue, there I was on that street named Banner where I lived with my parents and two little brothers.

I could visualize a sunny day and the houses that were on that street. The Black and White 1958 Chevy Belair the handsome boy on the corner owned and the family that lived next door and all of the kids names. There were seven of them and they all started with the letter "K".
Karl, Kevin, Karen, Kaylee, Kelsi, Kurk and Kenny and their last name was Kent! That is a lot of K's.

This was the house. 420 Banner in Nampa. Idaho, my home town.
My bedroom was downstairs. I snuck out the window one night to meet my boyfriend and when I returned home the garage door was open and all the lights were on. Needless to say, I was in big trouble!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

A collage I did for my Father's Day Challenge at Digital Whisper.
This is my Daddy at age 17 when he signed up for the Marines in 1934.
I miss you and all the things I wish I could tell you and show you. I know you would be so proud of your grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. It is hard to believe I am a great grandmother and that you have been gone for sixty years in August.
I still dream about you and you are always in my heart Daddy. I forever love you.
Happy Father's Day Daddy.

ABANDONED

I love images of abandoned buildings and rooms. So man questions when I see them. What was this room? Why was that gorgeous painting painted on the wall and who did the graffiti ? Who was the lady in the painting? What era was this room active and who occupied this room?

THE TALL SHIPS ARE COMING

This is a collage I created last week. I used only two images and Photoshop brushes. One is the background from Teddi's kit and the ship is a tall ship that sails in to Coos Bay twice a year. This one has been in several movies. There are two tall ships that come in and they will be here this month.
I love the way it turned out.

PASSING IN TO THE ARMS OF OUR LORD

This is exactly as I had it pictured in my mind.

Notice how the old woman is gazing back at the life that
she is leaving...then passes through the veil of death into the open arms of the Savior.
The "Come Unto Me" bronze sculpture took more than a year to make its first appearance.
Unveiled in the 2000, the original life-sized bronze monument stands in the grand foyer of the
Spilsbury Mortuary in St. George Utah.
It has become a scenic attraction, in addition to a comfort to countless families at a most tender time
of their lives. It portrays the spiritual journey from mortality to immortality: an aged woman's body, returning to its
prime, and back to the arms of our Savior.
Death is not the end.

We all have an eternal destiny, as "Come Unto Me" portrays."For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."John 3:16

Today is the sixth anniversary of my Dear Mother's passing
We all miss you Mom. I think about you so often. These thoughts keep you with me. Times I have thought I want to call you to tell you something. I just look at this photo of you that sits on a shelf in front of my desk and I talk to you anyway. I wish I could do like my sweet little niece said on the day you passed "Just send Grandma Great a Text in Heaven"
Love you forever Mom
