Good News !

My husband finally got some good news this week. He saw a pulmonolgist and took a breathing test.
It showed that he definitely has C.O.P.D.
That isn't the good news though. The doctor looked over his records for the past two years and saw how many times he has had pneumonia and that he has Leukemia and Lymphoma and said he would bet that the blood work would show the reason why.

He drew blood and told us he would call with the results. He explained that there is a certain factor in the immune system when you have leukemia that would show a low reading and that is probably why he continues to be sick. He told us that if this was the case, there is a drug he can get intravenously once a month to boost the immune system and that should solve the problem.

He called us within 2 hours and told us that he found the problem and it was that low reading in his immune system that was causing all of his problems. He is all set up to receive a drug to boost his immune system and he will start to feel better for the first time in two years.

We are hoping this is the answer. My question is why didn't his oncologist find this. She is supposed to be watching his leukemia/lymphoma. I guess we will find out when we see her next week.
For now he is relieved knowing why he has been so sick.

Thank you Jesus!

Oh my goodness! What a blessing. Keeping you and your sweet husband in my prayers.
My husband has a disease called FSGS it attacks the kidneys and is also an auto immune disease. There is no medication specifically for it so he is taking Cytoxan which is for Lukiemia and a shot 3 times a week called Acthar which is for MS.
He has lost one kidney and his other one is working at 24% they are hoping to kick start it with both medicines together. It is frustrating to deal with medical issues but then I think what a great day and age we live in. They told us that if Clay had been diagnosed with this just 10 years ago they would have told him he was going to die. Now through the help of medicine he can live a long life if they can get the FSGS in Remission.
We are dealing with all of the immune system problems also. My heart goes out to you!
Sending love and hugs,
Becky

i am so glad!!!
and i know you both are also!!
wonder why his oncologist didn't figure this out? sad to say, sometimes a "fresh mind" is needed. as the saying goes "sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees".
the important thing is he has found out why!!!..doesn't matter who found it,really..just that the reason was found!!

So glad he had good news. My HH has been having troubles too and tests out the wazoo. B12 deficient. I give him B12 injections monthly but that is not the cause. On our way to see a cardiologist now. Blessings to you and yours.
