A BRAND NEW WEEK

My new friend Nancy over at More Than Enough has tagged me with the following mini-meme.

  • Where was I 10 years ago: In Corona, CA working as an Interior Designer.

  • Snack Food I like: Popcorn, Chocolate. Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip Cookies.

  • If I were a billionaire I would: Buy homes for all of my children and grandchildren, donate to my favorite charity. There is a very old empty hospital here in Coos Bay and it just fascinates me. I would purchase that building and turn it into a health clinic and hire doctors and nurses that could care for the elderly and homeless and under privileged.

  • Places I have Lived: Idaho, Colorado, South Dakota,Nevada, California, Oregon

Now I’m tagging you:

MORE COLLAGE CARDS

I have been so inspired by so many people lately that my head is spinning.

I am a member of ZNE and recently joined the ATC Swappers Group. This is the my first ATC for the swap.

I also thought of a way to use the wonderful Toile Fabric I received from Susan at Black Berry Creek . This is a 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" Note Card. I put the fabric on the front and then did a collage with it and trimmed it with the cutest butterfly ric rac. I am pretty proud of the way it turned out.

I was also inspired by an image of my friend Jann over at A Vintage Heart's Great Grandmother, Rose. Jann gave her permission to take the image if we so desired and create with it and I did. It is such a cute image and I plan to use it often. In fact I have used it twice here on two different cards. The first one I used transparencies and the second one I used stamps from Inka Stamps and a line from an old Laura Ingles Little House on the Prairie Book. I know you are all gasping...the book is trashed, it is stained and torn and so I will put some of it to good use. I have a very nice copy of the book whick will stay in one piece.

Then I found this really bright colored fabric looking Mat Stack and an image from Victorian Trading Co and a little decor with a gold pen.

These and more will be listed in my Etsy Shop.

I am working on some clay pieces that I am really excited about also. I will probably be finished with them next week. My husband and I are almost complete with the new porch, sidewalk and gutters. We are doing the landscaping around the new porch and the front of the house. Should be finished by Sunday at which time I will post pictures.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY D'ANGELO !!

This is my middle son, D'Angelo's birthday!

He is a wonderful son, Father to my grandson and husband to my daughter in law Lori.
He is also an accomplished drummer. He was in the drum corp right after high school and has a natural talent. Along with his daily employment as the Manager of an electrical company in Anaheim, CA has been the drummer for his band called "New Roll Soul" for a number of years now.

A few years ago he had that horrible flesh eating disease on the top of his foot developing from a bug bite. He recovered from the initial devastation of that but a few years later it came back.

This disease causes loss of muscle and he recently has experienced problems with the control of his foot. He is having problems with drumming because of this and a drummer needs both feet to be able to play correctly. He is a perfectionist when it comes to drumming which is why he is so good. We are hopeful that physical therapy will help but with the loss of muscle it is going to be hard. Training his other foot has been suggested also.

Drumming is a big part of his life and so I am asking for a prayer chain to pray that the Lord will wrap his loving arms around D'Angelo and guide him in what he needs to do to correct this problem .

My husband and I are so very proud of what he has made of his life through all the hard knocks and want to wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SON!

LOVE YOU
MOM & ALAN

BASICS OF AN ATC

I received this information from my friend Vickie at Whispers of Inspiration awhile back and forgot about it.
My friend Nancy at More Than Enough brought up the subject again so I thought that it was interesting and wanted to share with all of you. Most of you probably already knew the "Rules" but in case you didn't the following are the rules on how to make an ATC.
*****************************************************************************************************************

ATC stands for Artist Trading Card. This article is both a primer and an idea bank intended for those who wonder what an ATC is and how to make one.

The very basics is what their name indicates, ATC are collectables, a brilliant idea born of the older sports-themed trading cards. The one rule that makes an ATC derives from their origins: the dimensions of the ATC must be 2.5"x3.5", or 64x89mm.

To this rule are appended a couple of conventions. First, an ATC mustn't be sold, only exchanged, as the whole essence of these tiny works of art is about artists meeting (by correspondence or online if need be) and exchanging their works, thus meeting many artists and getting exposed to many personal styles. Second, on the back of each ATC the artist writes part or all of the following information: name, contact information, title of the ATC and number (1/8, 2/8...) if it's part of an edition. By definition ATCs are made in limited numbers, often no more than one of a kind. Unique ATCs are called originals; sets of identical ATCs are called editions and are numbered; sets of ATCs that are based on one theme but that are different are called series. Don't be intimidated by the concept of small editions or originals: very few people are anal about this. What most collectors really want are cards that were made with care. Based on that, numbers are meaningless.

That's all! The above is all you need to know to start making your own ATCs. Common sense dictates that they should be sturdy enough to survive mailing, and of reasonable thickness (unless you specifically want them otherwise. Transparent card sleeves are useful to protect the cards if need be. This is particularly true if they can easily get smudged or if the medium might stick during transport.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

This is my Father. His name is Frank. He passed away of a heart attack when I was only 7 years old. He was 34 years old when he died. I remember a few things about him. One of the memories I have and still dream about is him sitting in his leather rocking chair and me on his lap and he is tying my shoes.

My Mother told me that he used to sing this song to me. I was "Daddy's Little Girl".

He was a loving Father to me and my younger brother Richie. I wish I could just have one day with him to show him what beautiful grandchildren he has and how myself and my brother turned out as adults. He would be so proud. I have so many things I want to ask him and tell him so I guess when I get to heaven we are going to have a long, long talk. I love and miss you Daddy.

These are the special Father's in my life.

Thanks Susan...now I have to figure out what I am going to do with this pretty fabric.

There is a very nice stationary set, 2 beautiful night lights with Victorian Lamp shades and a box of very lovely note cards. It was all wrapped in very Victorian style tissue paper which in its self is so pretty. Where did she get such unique tissue paper?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VINNIE !

Well today is my grandson Vinnie's birthday. Let me tell you a little about Vinnie.
He is a very talented young man. He is home schooled and he is years above other young men in public schools. He plays piano and writes his own music. He has an ear for music and picks it up just by listening. He also plays the guitar just like his father did around his age. He is learning Java Script which is Greek to me. He takes that class outside his home school subjects.

I am very proud of the way he has grown into such a polite, smart, funny and good looking young man. Oh and did I mention that he is my grandson?

Love you Vinnie, Happy Birthday honey.
